Year in Review 2025

As 2025 draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on a year defined by renewal and transformation. This is the year we embraced a new identity as Cora Environment, a name inspired by collaboration and heart, while advancing sustainability, forging impactful partnerships, and empowering people.

A YEAR OF BOLD TRANSFORMATION

On September 11, we unveiled our five-year S$200 million strategic roadmap at our brand launch event, officiated by Mr Zaqy Mohamad, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment & Ministry of Defence.

March 2025 opened a new chapter for Cora Environment (formerly SembWaste), as TBS Energi completed the acquisition, and accelerated its evolution into a regional market leader dedicated to sustainable environmental solutions. Building on this momentum, we unveiled a five-year S$200 million strategic roadmap to drive growth in waste-to-resource capabilities, strengthen core operations, and invest in innovation supporting Singapore’s transition toward a zero-waste future, under the Singapore Green Plan 2030.

COLLABORATING FOR IMPACT: MOVING THE SUSTAINABILITY NEEDLE

As part of the REhub launch event, a fireside chat was held in Mee Toh School, with Ms Goh Hanyan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment & Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Mee Toh School principal Mr Kelvin Tay and our Group CEO Mr Lee Kok Kin.

In October, we joined forces with National Environment Agency (NEA) to introduce REhubs in schools through the Cora School Recycling League, empowering schools to lead recycling initiatives. Our event was held in Mee Toh School, and also marked the first of four NEA’s Clean & Green Singapore satellite events this year.

We also partnered with Ramboll to drive energy recovery and decarbonisation at our Energy-from-Waste plant that will minimise energy losses and pilot carbon capture solutions, and collaborated with World Aquatics Championships to transform 100,000 used aluminium cans into 5,000 gleaming medals, where selected schools in the Cora School Recycling League rallied together to contribute to this shared mission.

We also formalised our partnership with Singapore Polytechnic (SP) at BEX Asia 2025, focusing on two key pillars: talent development and sustainability innovation. This means that students from SP receive the opportunity to be engaged in real-world learning and hands-on projects with Cora Environment, while we get to test-bed innovative solutions at SP’s sites.

DRIVEN BY PEOPLE, GUIDED BY PURPOSE

At the award ceremony for Cora’s School Recycling League this year, Gold Awards were presented to top schools across four education levels, who diverted the highest amount of waste: My First Skool @ Blk 153 Bishan (Preschool),  Mee Toh School (Primary), Manjusri Secondary School (Secondary), Victoria Junior College (Tertiary).

In 2025, we inspired thousands of students and educators to champion recycling in their daily lives, with close to 500 schools onboard the Cora School Recycling League this year, moulding a future of eco-conscious leaders.

We were also awarded with the Workforce Transformation Award for the Environmental Services Industry, a testament to our ongoing commitment to enrich our people through skills development, capability building and future‑ready roles. Working with Workforce Singapore, we have reimagined roles in Business Intelligence, achieving a 30% increase in efficiency by automating reporting and streamlining workflows.

Celebrating the heart of Cora, we also came together for an appreciation dinner at Mandai Wildlife Group’s Green Canvas, marking the first time we all gathered as one united Cora Environment.

2025 is more than a milestone year for Cora Environment; it signifies the dawn of a new era of transformation and renewal for us. With our transformed brand, stronger purpose and dedicated team, we are excited to continue this momentum into 2026. We were also reminded that sustainability cannot be defined by just one company or one industry. Rather, it is a long-term endeavour, enabled through impactful partnerships, engaged communities, and systemic shifts to the ecosystem.
