The Cora Responsible Mark (CRM) assessment framework aims to raise the recycling standards of recyclers across Singapore and Malaysia, offering greater alignment with global standards. Developed jointly with TÜV SÜD, it represents a landmark achievement as the first ever large-scale, multi-sector implementation of the international standard ISO 59014 in Singapore and Malaysia.
To earn the CRM, recyclers undergo an assessment of their activities and processes across three core pillars: Circularity, Traceability, and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions. Each recycler receives a score and a report that identifies gaps and opportunities for improvement, offering practical guidance to enhance operations and bring them in line with global best practices. Recyclers are awarded a mark that distinguishes between Industry Leaders, Advanced Achievers, Transitioning Performers, or Emerging Recyclers.
Verified recycling outcomes holds recyclers to a higher level of accountability and this ultimately leads to higher recovery rates across recyclers through improved sorting, contamination control, and process optimisation. This aligns with Singapore’s Zero Waste Masterplan as it ensures greater volumes of waste being recycled and directly contributes to the national target of reducing landfill waste by 30 percent per capita per day by 2030.
